What Type Of Job Should I Take To Jump Start My Career As A Life Coach (w/o A Degree)?

Oct 31st, 2009 by newmoney

I am looking to become a life coach soon. I love helping people. I am creative and idealistic. I have a broad and excellent customer service background and am very good at talking to people. Please help with suggestions. Thank you!

The best job may not be a job, but rather a volunteer gig. Contact social services nonprofits in your area and see if they have openings for volunteers to work in some capacity with people, even if it is limited to begin with. As a coach, you will be helping people deal with their life plans; that’s maybe different than you have been used to in a customer service role.

I think a great starting point is a personal trainer. That helps people. While working in that field I would look into life coach training. See if your state has any requirements or licenses for that work (check your local community college). If not, you can find plenty of educational opportunities online.

i personally would suggest to get a degree before starting a career in being a life coach. it will benefit your career greatly. good luck! this sounds like a great job to pursue in… never give up on your dreams =]

No degree? Maybe a bartender. I don’t think many people will take you serious if you want to do something but are unwilling to study it.

Stop dating, get married…and if that doesn’t get you an education, add a couple children.

The truth is that you don’t really need a degree to be a “life coach” all you really need is a client list!

    Cheers
