Life Coach News- Give Your Life a Tune Up
If you are feeling this way, perhaps it is time for what I call a “Life Tune Up.” There are two parts to the tune up – identify and eliminate energy drainers and increase things that give you energy. To start, make a written list of the specific energy drainers present in both your work and personal life. Include everything that drains your energy: things you’re tolerating, things in the way of accomplishing what you desire (including personal fears, etc.), behaviors counter-productive to your well-being, irritations, physical clutter, an excessive amount of personal commitments, unfinished business, debt, draining relationships, and so forth. Once you’ve done this, make a second list of everything that gives you energy: things and relationships that revitalize you, things that increase your happiness and joy, things and actions that simplify and de-clutter your life, things like exercise that make your body feel good, etc. As you make the second list, make the distinction between things that stimulate you and things that energize you since some stimulants can appear to be energizing, but actually drain your energy.Once you have your lists, commit to using them. Start to actively eliminate (or neutralize) one energy drainer a week from your life. Write down next to each energy drainer how you plan on eliminating or neutralizing it (i.e. replacing it with an energy enhancer, create a budget for eliminating debt that includes cutting back on specific things, have a garage sale to eliminate clutter, update your resume and start networking more actively in order to start pursuing a new job, etc.). Also, decide when you’ll eliminate or neutralize each thing on the list and write down your goal dates for each thing. Some of the things on this list may be unchangeable facts in your life (i.e., a sick relative, a difficult coworker, etc.). If this is the case, a shift in attitude is necessary. Though “neutralizing” something that has been bothering you can be challenging, remember the goal is to help yourself feel better. So, try converting that drainer into something that is neutral, a learning opportunity, or a gratitude (asking yourself what in the situation you are actually grateful for).As you’re working on eliminating energy drainers, work on increasing the activities on your second list – those things that provide you with energy. Start by adding one of your revitalizing activities to your life each and every day. And, don’t worry about starting small. As you eliminate more energy drainers, you’ll start to have more time free up in your life as well as energy. While you’re working at tuning yourself up, it’s likely that some energy drainers on your list will disappear without conscious effort. That’s the wonderful reversal that happens as we actively direct our energy. But, like all aspects of personal well being, maintaining our energy takes attention and work. So, make it a practice to work at your lists regularly – adding to them and crossing things off. Or consider hiring a Life Coach or a Personal Coach to support you, or enlist a friend to do this with you. The more support you have the better and the more you do, the more likely you are to experience and sustain feeling energized and revitalized. More and more professionals today are tired of the frenzied, highly demanding age we live in – the constant pressures brought about by the wish to succeed, be financially secure, fit and healthy, sociable, a good wife and parent. Career women, in particular, have to cope with the sometimes very emotional challenge of juggling family and work demands trying to maintain a work-life balance, which if not achieved can be extremely detrimental to their physical, mental and emotional health. There is a decreasing acceptance of an all-absorbing job; people are interested in a higher quality of life. Life where you have more time for yourself and your relationships, with more energy to invest in emotional, physical and spiritual well-being
As reported by the British Journal of Administrative Management, coaching ‘takes a holistic view of the individual’ ensuring that work, corporate values, personal needs and career-development are made to work in synergy and not against each other.
However, what started as a corporate client service has now become a valuable tool for any individual wanting to improve their life. It is quite feasible to imagine that having a personal coach will become an accepted norm.
Borne out of the competitive pressures of today’s economy, as well as the struggle to find balance in the frantic pace of modern life, personal life coaching is now rapidly attracting devotees worldwide. CEO’s, entrepreneurs, professionals, people in career transition and many others grappling with life issues are all turning to this new tool to guide them through life’s difficulties and help raise them above the ‘fog’ to the clear heights of peace and self-satisfaction.
Whilst Coaching supports all aspects of life, its ultimate aim is to achieve harmony and balance within the individual. For career women this means establishing a work-life balance that satisfies all the levels of emotional and professional needs. It’s about working to live, not living to work.
Work-life balance is a self-defined, self-determined state of well-being that a person can reach, or can set as a goal, that allows them to manage effectively multiple responsibilities at work, at home, and in their community; it supports physical, emotional, family, and community health, and does so without grief, stress or negative impact. For those striving to enjoy this type of life, coaching is an indispensable tool.
Women at work can recognise when they are suffering from an imbalance. Symptoms such as constantly being tired, feeling like you’re running uphill all the time and getting nowhere, feeling like you have no choices, no control; when life seems to be happening to you instead of you feeling that you’re managing it; when you can think of more things that aren’t getting done than are; when you see more negative in your life than positive.
Coaching is a powerful, collaborative relationship between the coach and a willing individual, which helps that individual through the process of discovery, goal setting and strategic action-planning to help realise an extraordinary result. It is also a body of knowledge, a technology and a style of relating that focuses on the development of that person’s potential.
Most people spend considerable time planning their annual holiday but how much time is spent planning a far more crucial journey, one you don’t get a chance to revisit if things don’t work out the way you hope? How much time do you spend mapping out where you want to go in life?
Just as Olympic sports men and women rely on their talent, determination and coach to give them the best chance of reaching Gold, your Coach can make you a medallist in life.
In the security of this collaborative alliance with your coach you will reach clarity of purpose, identify goals and develop a plan of action. You will establish an understanding of what is really important to you in life, take charge and realise your priorities. Put simply, coaching is about helping you to create and work towards the grandest version of the greatest personal vision you have; to achieve success – success being the continuous realisation of a worthy goal or ideal.

Personal Life Coaching
There is a new phenomenon sweeping the U.K. which is helping people not only to achieve, earn, and do more but also to lead a more balanced and holistic life. It’s called ‘Personal Life Coaching’ and it really does help individuals be all that they want to be.
As with so many things this concept started in the U.S.A. in the late eighties. Following on from the once popular consultants and therapists, it has become the ‘personal coach’ who will now help sort out your personal and professional life. This new type of advisor will strategise with you in weekly sessions, either in person, on the phone or via email.
Coaching started out as a way to help frenzied entrepreneurs and corporate executives cope with a life that seemed to be careering out of control. As reported by the British Journal of Administrative Management coaching ‘takes a holistic view of the individual’ ensuring that work, corporate values, personal needs and career development are made to work in synergy and not against each other. However, what started as a ‘corporate client’ service has now become a valuable tool for any individual wanting to improve their life.
Borne out of the competitive pressures of today’s economy as well as the struggle to find balance in the frantic pace of modern life this Personal Life Coaching is now rapidly attracting devotees in Britain. CEOs, entrepreneurs, professionals, people in career transition and many others grappling with life issues are all turning to this new ‘tool’ to guide them through life’s difficulties and help raise them above the ‘fog’ to the clear heights of peace and self-satisfaction. There are now hundreds of coaches across the country and it is forecast that by the year 2004 it will be as common to have a coach as it is to have a personal fitness trainer.
Coaching is a very powerful, collaborative relationship between the coach and a willing individual, which facilitates that individual, through the process of discovery, goal setting and strategic action-planning, in the realisation of an extraordinary result. It is also a body of knowledge, a technology and a style of relating that focuses on the development of that human’s potential.
More and more people are tired of the frenzied, technological information age that we live in and are interested in a higher quality of life. Life where you have more time for yourself and your relationships, with more energy to invest in your emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. Whether you are a corporate executive working sixty hours a week, a single parent trying to raise a family or someone who is just tired of feeling stressed out and pressed for time, you have a choice about how to live your life. You can step back, re-evaluate your priorities and make a conscious decision about the future you would like to create.
Just as you would turn to the local gym or personal trainer if your body were out of shape, now you can hire a personal coach to improve the quality of your life. With their help you can shape up your life and overcome all the obstacles that get in the way of living the life you want – like hiring a personal trainer for your soul!
One might ask why a coach is needed, rather than a partner, best friend or work colleague. Quite simply it is because of the qualification, professionalism and experience of the person to whom you are talking – and the FREEDOM with which you can speak.
Most of us have experienced the desire to have a kind of heart to heart with someone who really understands workplace challenges, family demands, the need for love and job satisfaction and the importance of personal space. It is imperative that this ‘sounding board’ is a person to whom you can offload ALL of your thoughts, fears, ideas and aspirations. Often discussion with a loved one or work colleague can be restrained for any number of reasons – concern for their feelings, fear of displaying weakness, reluctance to share good, but perhaps unformulated, ideas or the unwillingness to disclose a secret.
One reason for the high demand for coaches and coaching comes from the increasing number of entrepreneurs, infopreneurs and self employed people seeking to be successful in an extremely competitive market place. It is now recognised that the right coach gives the professional or business owner a major and competitive advantage. It is estimated that over the last ten years well over a quarter of a million people in the United States have been coached. This phenomenon is now here and running in the United Kingdom and any businessperson or entrepreneur who wants to get ahead, who wants to have a major and dramatic competitive advantage will have their own personal coach.
The value and success of this ‘tool’ has been seized upon by hundreds of corporations worldwide including IBM, Ernst and Young, Deloitt Touche, Lucent Technologies, AT & T, Phyzer, Dupont, Delta Faucet, Kodak, Rodale, the FAA, Globe Business Services, Caterpillar Financial, JC Penny and Telus. All of these corporations have recognised the key differential between training and coaching – they each have their value but are distinctly different. A very interesting article published in the Public Personnel Management in the winter of 97 revealed a study done by the International Personal Management Association where training alone was compared with coaching combined with training. The study showed that training alone increased productivity by 22.4% while training plus coaching increased productivity by a massive 88 %.
Coaching contracts vary to some degree but generally a client will work with a coach for between six and twelve months for a monthly fee, which covers four weekly sessions. There are no additional charges and the coach does not take a percentage or a contingency- type fee or award.
Very simply, people hire a coach because they want MORE of something (money, time, happiness, success, freedom) or LESS of something (frustration, toleration, delays, procrastination). A coach is trained to work with a client on both personal and business goals as opposed to a therapist who works on issues- there is a huge difference. Having set those goals the coach will help you implement them and stay by your side until their completion. So the question is “Would you like to change your life? Do you want more time for yourself? Would you like to take better care of your health, reduce stress and create more balance in your life?”. The answer is to hire a coach.
Very soon the question will be not “Do you have a coach?” but

Why Top Producers Achieve Stellar Results With Life Coaching
When you meet those top producing brokers and realtors who seem to have it all – you know what I am talking about – those people who have a great life, great vacations, loving family relationships, sweet investments and luck on top of all that, you might look further and see that person in a life coaching program. Top producers who are committed to having a fulfilling experience in life may have gotten some of the wind beneath their wings in a life coach program. Now, many of the top salespeople I have worked with don’t care about having a fulfilling experience. They care about winning. They care about awards. They care about the juice, the next sale, the win. But then what happens to their lives? After coaching 8,273 salespeople, with many top producing realtors among them, I began to see the “the win at all costs” mentality. And I began to notice others who win and experience fulfillment in other areas of their lives as well. What a difference. Top sales people who focus only on the wins, the next deal, the bigger deal, often find themselves out of touch with the very aspect of their lives that they told themselves they were winning for. Top sales people often find they win the deals at the expense of their family. They are winning but are they really losing touch with their children or their family? Or have they forgotten about health? Or maybe they are winning but their emotional life is a wreck. Now, a top producer can take comfort in the glory of the win. Except when winning costs the experiences of family, of joy, of travel, of spiritual growth – then it can be a bittersweet victory. I would like to bring to you another entirely amazing side of humanity. Top salespeople who want it all can indeed begin to experience life that is completely and wholly successful – because these individuals stop and recognize that being a great producing broker and a terrible dad is a hollow victory. And it wouldn’t be much fun to be a great sales person in the hospital on the second triple bypass heart surgery. What if instead a life coach could help you achieve victory across many different aspects of yourself? Nearly all great sales people who experience life to the very fullest take advantage of life coaching. Here is what I want to share with you today. When you get everything into balance, when you are working on every aspect of your life, it’s as if you have a magic wand that enables you to get things done that other people cannot possibly get done. You can accomplish a lot more in much shorter periods of time. People who live in balance achieve at an extremely intensified rate. When other people put in one and receive one, those individuals who are firing on every level of their being – mental, physical, spiritual, financial, all of the areas of value in their lives – can actually put in one ounce of “effort” to receive 10 times the results. When you are operating on all cylinders, you will feel completely at ease and in control – as you embrace more success than you have ever experienced. This is why life coaching is taking off. Work on your entire life, and experience results across all of the disciplines. It’s worth the trip.
